Governance

Our Trustees

Al Baseera Trustees are responsible for the overall Charity. They have the legal responsibility and report directly to the Charity Commission, which regulates all charities in England and Wales.

The Trustees meet a minimum of twice a year to fulfil legal obligations, such as financial and annual reporting. Legal decisions affecting the charity are taken in these meetings, and reports are sent to the regulator to make them public.

The trustees and management committee are volunteers; they do not receive any compensation or financial benefits.

Dedicated Teams

Sub-Committees

The Trustees have set up three sub-committees that facilitate specific activities of the charity's work.

Day-to-Day Management

Responsible for the day-to-day running of the charity and its facilities. Meeting twice a month, this committee oversees all employees, ensures regulatory compliance, deals with operational matters, and acts as the vital interface between the Trustees and the community.

Youth & Sports Activities

Keeps our youth busy all year round with activities during school holidays, Eid festivals and summer breaks. This includes hugely popular football tournaments for boys (12-16), swimming trips, and Islamic seminars - vital engagement for our next generation.

Da'wah & Qur'an Lessons

Organises events taking place at the Al-Baseera building. Members also go out to hold information desks on popular streets in town, providing clear information about the authentic Islamic faith to the wider public.

What We Do

Our Activities

Albaseera Bristol Centre facilitates 300+ worshippers and provides easy access to Muslims in central Bristol, Easton, Barton Hill and St Paul's. We strive to be a welcoming venue offering dedicated lessons, women-only sessions, and community support.

Prayers

Open every day. 200+ visit weekly for daily prayers, and 500+ regularly attend Friday Jumu'ah.

Ramadan

We prepare food for those breaking fast together. 100+ attend Tarawih nightly. Eid prayers are held at St Pauls Sport Centre.

Community Halls

Halls and classrooms available for education, gathering, and serving the vulnerable in our city.

Annual Umrah

The Da'wah committee organises Umrah trips during the month of Ramadan for the youth.

Qur'an Competition

Partnering with Madrassa committees to foster love for the Qur'an among children.

Football

Sporting tournaments during half-terms keeping young persons engaged in healthy competition.

Open Day

Held every 2 years. Widely attended by non-Muslims, councillors, and police to learn about our operations.

Women's Support

Women-only sessions for learning and worship, with full prayer facilities available at all times.
